Join Southport for its annual Flag Retirement Ceremony on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. More than 600 U.S. flags will be properly retired as we pay tribute to those who serve and have served in the United States Military.

When the United States flag becomes worn, torn, faded, or badly soiled, it needs to be replaced with a new flag and the old should be “retired” with all the dignity and respect befitting our nation’s flag. The traditional method of retirement is to incinerate the flag, however, today we are not burning a flag we are retiring a symbol of America’s honor, courage, and strength.
